Coaches
At Canby Junior Baseball, our coaches do far more than teach the fundamentals of the game. They serve as mentors, role models, and leaders who help shape young athletes. Every season, our volunteer coaches invest countless hours helping players build confidence, develop new skills, learn the value of teamwork, and grow a lifelong love for baseball.

If you are interested in coaching (as a head coach or assistant), please fill out the application and email it to Ryan or drop off at Oliver Insurance (101 N Ivy St.)
All coaches, whether new or returning, will go through interview process prior to tryouts.
CBJ Board will select the best coaches available for each level.
Not all coaches are offered a position.

Background check needs to be completed by all coaches and Concussion Training needs to be completed by the head coach on your team.

Weekly schedule will trump what was previously sent out, so check it for accuracy of games as well as any changes. Changes will be highlighted in yellow both for field assignments and games that need to be moved.
Practice time and field availability gets really tight once the season begins. Practices will not be scheduled unless you request one. Games will always trump practices.

Games that need to be rescheduled as well as any continuation games, no matter the reason, need to be communicated to the CCJBA scheduler within 3 days with a new date. Home teams need to provide 3 options for the visiting team to choose from. If you have issues with the other coach not being engaged with you on rescheduling, please reach out to Mike Dunlevy.

Winning coach submits the scores and the pitch card information online at the CCJBA website.

All Canby Junior Baseball coaches are required to use the GameChanger app as the primary tool for communicating with their team. Coaches should use the app to schedule practices and games, share updates, notify families of changes or cancellations, and keep everyone informed throughout the season. Consistent communication through GameChanger helps ensure players and families have the most up-to-date information in one convenient place.

To help protect the health and safety of our players, Canby Junior Baseball follows pitch count guidelines for all Minors, Juniors, and Seniors divisions. Coaches are responsible for accurately tracking pitches throughout the season and adhering to required rest periods. Focused fire coaching clinics
Great coaches never stop learning. Canby Junior Baseball encourages all Minor, Junior, and Senior level coaches to take advantage of the Focused Fire Coaching Clinics, led by two of the Pacific Northwest's most respected baseball educators, Marty Hunter and Randy Rutschman. With decades of experience coaching athletes from youth baseball to the collegiate and professional levels, these clinics provide practical instruction, fresh perspectives, and valuable tools you can bring directly back to your team.
Whether you're coaching for the first time or have years of experience, these sessions are an excellent opportunity to grow as a coach, connect with others in the baseball community, and continue providing the best possible experience for Canby's young athletes.
